Skills required to execute S1000D Project
While basic project management and development skills are necessary, S1000D requires specialized skills to execute the project with optimal output, along with a suitable COTS product.
Here is the description of skills required to do an S1000D project:
- Project Manager with a background in engineering and publication would be most ideal for S1000D projects. His or her skills are essential to understand customer requirements, complexities involved, risks associated with the project and manage all the tasks / stakeholders involved.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) or Domain Analyst is the key resource who understands all the intricacies of systems involved. These can be a team of experts from different disciplines of engineering like mechanical, electrical, electronics, communication, instrumentation, software background with some experience of working (Hands-On) as well.
- Technical Authors are people with Engineering background and experienced in putting together documents or instructions. Ideal candidate should be one with relevant experience in dealing with relevant domain specific systems.
- 3D or 2D Illustrators/ Animators – Artists with engineering flavor are suited to execute S1000D projects.
- Quality Assurance team will be responsible for building to executing test scenarios to ensure that the end product meets the specifications.
